Someone please make a TV series out of this!
My overall rating: 4.8/5 stars
Loved. Every. Second. Everytime I came back to continue reading I got this overwhelming feeling of getting hooked on the first sentence... Over and over and again!
The only things that were missing for me include more descriptions on what happens when Reuben touches someone. Does time pass when he sees inside someone's mind, or does everything happen in one second? Does it feel like a sudden "pop" and then he's in? Does it take a few seconds for everything to form around him? Does it feel like a very vivid dream or dead-on reality?
I would also love to know more about Allison's background, but I guess we will see more of her in the next books in the series.
Writing style was on point: I usually don't go for third-person stories, but this one was that well written.
I am in love with Sally's powers... I have fantasized over having the same abilities multiple times! Would hate to be Reuben or Theo though lol
Grammar or spelling mistakes were very minimal to even care, at least for a story published on an online site.
Please keep on writing!
DEVOURED this book! Get it? 'Cause it's about werewolves! hahaha it's funny.
Oh baby, that was SUPERB. I'm quite the picky reader, and this was my FIRST paranormal novel ever, (not my first M/M though) and boy did I enjoy it.
I kinda wanna be a werewolf now. Is that weird? Nah, that's just how good this story is. It's full of steamy scenes, violence (very well showed by the way), angst and "OH. MA. GAWD" moments.
Do you know when you're close to finishing a novel, and you look at your page count to see how much you have left? Well that didn't happen to me this time; I couldn't take my eyes off throughout the second half of the book! I was actually impressed by that!
A good number of areas still need editing, but I believe that this is being taking care of already. After that's done, this novel is gonna be a blast.
The story kept me interested from chapter 1. It is a quick and enjoyable read for horror/zombie lovers like me. And I did like the characters, although some of them became forgotten after advancing the story (Julia, for example).
However, the novel needs a lot of work. There was no showing, just telling.
What really bothered me was the lack of description of the zombies. I loved the concept of having different kinds, like in "The Last of Us", but I couldn't picture what a Strider, a Screamer or a Berskerker looked like. No mentions about their decomposed bodies, their eyes, what their screams sounded like, the way they moved, their skin or overall appearance, the way they walked/run, nothing. That was what I was looking forward to the most, especially after realizing that there are different kinds of zombies in this story.
Also, what happened to the creature that could transform itself into its preys' loved ones? The one that could burn anything and injured Antonio so badly? We never got an explanation of what that was and the characters quickly forgot about it (which makes no sense either), even though it wasn't a zombie, but more like a magical beast. I seriously thought those things were gonna be one of the main threats in this story, along with The Cure, but nothing came of them... and I was so hyped!
You have a solid skeleton with this manuscript/draft, but you still need the vital organs, the muscles, the skin and the hair. But, with a lot of work, this could be quite the amazing zombie novel.
If you decide to work on it a lot more, I'd love to read it again and give feedback.
Thanks for taking the time to write and upload this story!
Steam, suspense and psychological wars. Loved it!
This is the first book I've read by this writer and it will not be the last. I completely fell in love with the author's writing style; the way she described certain scenes, or the way she would describe Julia's emotions throughout the story allowed me the imagine everything vividly and feel whatever she was feeling. The characters' emotions reflected on me. That's a powerful and unique asset right there!
I wasn't expecting the suspense/thriller elements that came with this story; damn was this an intense read!
Things I would try to edit and improve on would be some more character descriptions and/or background. Simon's character, for example: there could've been so much more to him! And with that, the climax of this story plus its overall suspense would have benefited more too.
Overall an amazing read. I will definitely recommend this to anyone who likes intense, steamy romances with some added suspense.
